چکیده

Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) networks are basically wireless LANs. The CSMA is a method that uses carrier sensing scheme in which the station which transmits data can detect collision and takes appropriate steps to have collision-free communication. Many stations in these networks share common resources for successful transmission of data. Resource reservation is one of the well known techniques that enable reserving shared resources to stations in order to improve communication efficiency and reduce contention. Especially the time-slot reservation in CSMA networks is a challenging and open problem to be addressed. Recently He et al. proposed a semirandom back off (SRB) method for contention based wireless networks that facilitate resource reservation. The SRB is different from random back off approach where it employs deterministic slot assignments in CSMA networks. The notion of back off counter is used which is set to zero on successful transmission of packets. As time slots are reused effectively on successive back off cycles continuously the implicit resource reservation is achieved besides reducing collision probability. In this paper we implemented this methodology using NS2. The simulation results reveal that the approach is useful in optimal utilization of resources.

A multichannel CSMA MAC protocol for multihop wireless networks

We describe a new carrier–sense multiple access (CSMA) protocol for multihop wireless networks, sometimes also called ad hoc networks. The CSMA protocol divides the available bandwidth into several channels and selects an idle channel randomly for packet transmission. It also employs a notion of “soft” channel reservation as it gives preference to the channel that was used for the last successf...

Reservation MAC protocols for Ad-Hoc Networks: Analysis of the Approaches

Multimedia and real-time applications require bandwidth guarantees, which may be achieved by resource reservation. Several researches were done to propose efficient reservation MAC protocols for ad-hoc networks. In these schemes, channel is segmented into super-frames composed of fixed number of slots. They allocate slots to each traffic source, and make sure that neighbor nodes record the rese...

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF COMPUTER COMMUNICATION NETWORKS VIA RANDOM ACCESS CHANNELS bY

The field of computer communication networks has grown very rapidly in the past few years. One way to communicate is viamultiple access broadcast channels. A new class of random access schemes referred to as the Mp-persistent CSMA scheme is proposed. It incorporates the nonpersistent CSMA scheme and l-persistent CSMA scheme, both slotted and unslotted versions, as its special cases with p=O and...

Asymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks

This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...
